Good Grepolis defence combines an appropriate army, wall levels, divine powers and timely support. The best composition depends on the attacker and the world settings; no single garrison stops every army.
Read the threat
Check incoming movements, reports and alliance alerts. An old spy report does not guarantee the city is unchanged. If the attack composition is uncertain, prepare balanced cover and coordinate support.
Use the wall and simulator
The Wall strengthens land defence. Compare unit defensive values against blunt, sharp and ranged weapons, then use the Agora simulator with current information. Allow for morale, divine effects and luck.
